Improvements

Now that I have added my banner and all of the text I want for my magazine, I have decided to evaluate what I like and dislike about my magazine so far:

Positives:

1. I have to say as a whole image, my front cover is extremely striking. I think this is mainly because of the color scheme I have chosen to use. Not only do the colours all complement each other, but they also create a varity, which both my target audience of boys and girls will be drawn too. I hae purposely used these colours so that I could create a front cover that would appeal to both genders.

2. The next thing I think is partiularly effective is my banner at the bottom. I have to say that personally that for me is the most interesting part of my front cover, as it's interesting and and theres a lot to look at, yet it is not too cluttered.

3. I think my decision to cut out my models arm was a good decision as it has made her look more commercial and less staged.

4. I think my use of shapes to present importrant or desirable information is really effective as I think it really demonstrates that my target audience is between the ages of 12-16 and is not therefore for young men and women.

Negatives:

1. One of the biggest issues I am having with my front cover is the amount of empty white space. Therefore I have decided that I am going to create a peeling sticker. As it will take up space, however it will also add colour to empty white space and will therefore make my magazine visually pleasing.

2. The next thing I want to improve is the banner at the top of the page. I think the banner at the bottom of the page is fine being completely bare. But I do think as the banner at the top is one of the first things the naked eye jumps too it needs to look more dramatic. Therefore I have decided to look for fonts which have shapes that are decidedly aimed towards teenagers. For instance perhaps I could use graffiti, or doodling or possibly even paint splashes. I am also going to look for a font in which I can create a pair of glasses, so again my banner is more visually pleasing to my audience.

3. The final thing I need to do is obviously add in my Q photoshoot, teaser photo. However I think in an effort to take up space and make my front cover more dramatic visually I am going to have the image on a slight angle and I am going to use a stroke around the image so that again I am adding more colour to my cover.
