Album Mock
Album cover research.
To decide what album cover to use we looked at covers from real life products. The first image we looked at was Taylor swift's 'Fearless' ablum. We thought the imnage for this album was generally good, the mid shot of her swishing her hair is quite cliché, but it is effective for the genre it is used for. The target audience would probably be about 12-18, which is shown in the video and the cover. The text on the album cover is very large and clear, which is good because the colours used are quite bland. Overall, the album cover is good and would be useful for us because we are looking at attracting a similar audience with our products. The second image we looked at was Cheryl Cole's album cover for 'Messy little raindrops'. The image for this is really blurry which works on this cover, but it wouldn't appeal to our target audience, and would make the overall feel quite messy. The text

Character stereotypes.

The boy is shown to be a typical popular boy. He has a very popular cheerleader girlfriend, who he argues with a lot. However, he challenges this stereotype because he is more interested in personality; he is shown to be having fun with the geeky girl, and arguing with his girlfriend.

The cheerleader is very stereotypical; she is very slim and attractive. She is very interested in her appearance and what other boys think of her. This is very stereotypical of a ‘popular girl’.

Overall, the music video is quite stereotypical. It has a very typical story line, with the geeky girl getting the boy. However, it does challenge the stereotypes, occasionally.

Specification
We have decided to look at the different music genres and the conventions that follow them, we will look at how different characters in music videos are represented and see how camera angles and mise en scene fit into the story of the video.
