This documentary was recently the winner of the Digital Revolutions Award at the Sheffield Documentary Festival 2010. It shows how the latest computing technology influences the lives of patients with a rare genetic condition.
There are a some points worth noting about this fully-formed documentary:
- At 3:00 it's not particularly close to our intended maximum 5 mins. What it and those before it show is that 5 minutes may be unecessary and that we may be able to provide a more concise, focused impact with a documentary at this tried-and-tested length.
+ The music carries and enhances the narrative superbly.
+ The interviews are shot really well, with darker backgrounds to make the lit subjects stand out.
+ The spoken discourse is clear and calm.
+ The montage shots underneath an audio commentary really involve and intrigue the audience.
